The Gecko Ballistic Cap is designed to improve the level of protection offered to boat crews working under the threat of fire arms whilst wearing the Mk10 Gecko Marine Safety Helmet.

Developed by Aptiform in collaboration with Gecko Headgear, the cap is constructed using self-reinforced polypropylene – a composite material where both the reinforcement and matrix are of the same polymer, offering a unique balance of lightweight, high impact performance, recyclability and cost.

The cap is designed to quickly drop onto the existing helmet when required whilst still allowing the use of communication devices and eye protection. The ballistic cap is 9mm thick, weighs just 640g and it’s designed to meet NIJ 0106 Level 2 (US Body armour) specification, providing protection against 9mm full metal jacket rounds.

Utilising Aptiform’s unique understanding of self-reinforced plastics, Gecko Headgear are now able to offer an innovative product that provides a significant improvement in performance for a minimum increase in weight.
